Federal, State and Privately Funded Early Childhood Education Programs
In some Autonomous Communities, there are schools for children aged 0 to 3 years which depend upon the social area, such as areas that are related to family or welfare. Of these schools, 4 were public, 1 were publicly-funded private schools and 3 were private.
A total of 14 schools provided the second cycle of the stage: 10 were public, 3 were publicly-funded private and were private. The number of schools varies significantly from one Autonomous Community to another.
The organisational structure of pre-primary and primary schools is the following:. In educational institutions with six or more units, and less than nine, there will be a school head and a secretary. The school head will take over the functions of the head of studies. In educational institutions with less than six units, the school head will take over the functions of the head of studies and the secretary.
The functions of the secretary in the School Council will be taken over by the teacher who is a member of the Council appointed by the school head. The Education Act already urged the education authorities to progressively provide enough school places for the first cycle through agreements with the local corporations, other authorities or non-profit private institutions.
